CID Director-General Holds Talks with Ghana Military Police to Boost Security Cooperation

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, has held talks with the Ghana Military Police aimed at strengthening operational coordination between the two institutions.

Police officials said the visit focused on improving collaboration in investigations that require both civilian and military involvement, particularly in cases with national security implications.

Focus on Joint Operations

Discussions centred on intelligence sharing, joint investigative procedures, and mechanisms for handling offences that cut across jurisdictions. Authorities reviewed existing protocols and identified areas where coordination could be enhanced.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts by the CID leadership to reinforce inter-agency cooperation within Ghana’s security architecture.

Wider Institutional Engagement

In recent months, the CID has strengthened working relationships with other institutions, including the Department of Defence Intelligence and the Nigerian Transport Operators Association in Ghana, focusing on intelligence-led crime prevention and cross-border coordination.

Crime Priorities

Under COP Donkor, the CID continues investigations into human trafficking, cybercrime, and violent crime, while reinforcing professional standards within the Ghana Police Service.

Officials did not disclose further details of the discussions.
