The Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, has strongly criticised the government’s Nkokonkitinkiti programme, describing it as a “breeding ground for corruption” and calling for greater transparency and accountability in its implementation.

Sharp Criticism from Bimbilla MP
According to Mr Nitiwul, the structure and execution of the initiative leave significant room for alleged mismanagement and political favouritism. He argued that without strict oversight mechanisms, public funds risk being misapplied.
The former Defence Minister stressed that any programme funded by taxpayers must be subjected to clear procurement processes, independent audits, and public scrutiny to prevent abuse.
Concerns Over Accountability
Mr Nitiwul questioned the monitoring framework of the Nkokonkitinkiti programme, urging state institutions to ensure value for money. He emphasised that development initiatives should directly benefit ordinary Ghanaians rather than serve partisan interests.
“We cannot continue to roll out programmes that lack transparency. Ghana deserves better governance standards,” he stated.
Call for Transparency
The Bimbilla legislator further called on oversight bodies, including Parliament and anti-corruption agencies, to review the programme’s operational guidelines and expenditure records.
As debate intensifies, political observers say the controversy surrounding the Nkokonkitinkiti initiative could spark broader discussions about public sector accountability and anti-corruption reforms in Ghana.
