Police in Odumase-Krobo in Ghana’s Eastern Region have arrested three suspects after discovering 105 bundles of suspected fake US dollar notes concealed in a metal trunk during a raid at Laasi.

According to initial reports, the operation was carried out following intelligence gathered by officers in the area. During the search, police reportedly uncovered the bundles of suspected counterfeit currency hidden carefully inside a metal trunk.
Suspect Allegedly Attempts GH¢200,000 Bribe
Police sources say one of the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe officers with GH¢200,000 in an effort to avoid arrest after the suspected counterfeit notes were discovered.
However, the officers reportedly rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrest of all three suspects as part of ongoing investigations.
Counterfeit Currency Concerns
The discovery of the suspected fake US dollar notes has raised fresh concerns about counterfeit currency operations in parts of the country. Security agencies have previously warned the public and financial institutions to remain vigilant against fake foreign currency circulating in illegal trading networks.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the suspected counterfeit money and whether the suspects are connected to a wider criminal network.
