Teachers Are Eating Food Meant for Students, Causing Shortages” – Hajia Fati Forgor

The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, has raised serious concerns over alleged misconduct by some teachers, accusing them of consuming food meant strictly for schoolchildren — a practice she says is contributing to persistent food shortages in beneficiary schools.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement on the challenges facing the programme, Hajia Fati Forgor revealed that reports from caterers and monitoring teams indicate that food portions intended for pupils are sometimes diverted to teachers and non-beneficiaries.

According to her, the School Feeding Programme was designed to improve school attendance, nutrition, and learning outcomes, especially for children in deprived communities. However, abuse of the system by adults undermines these objectives and affects the most vulnerable pupils.

“When food meant for students is shared with teachers, it reduces portions and in some cases leads to shortages before all children are served,” she stated.

Hajia Fati Forgor emphasized that while teachers play a critical role in the education system, the programme’s guidelines do not permit teachers to be fed under the GSFP, unless separate arrangements are made by school authorities.

She warned that continued violations could attract administrative sanctions, stressing that strict monitoring measures are being introduced to ensure accountability, transparency, and fairness in food distribution.

The revelation has sparked public debate nationwide, with many Ghanaians calling for stronger supervision, clear enforcement of guidelines, and protection of children’s welfare under the programme.

NPP Presidential Primary: Ballot Order Sparks Fresh Kennedy Agyapong vs Bawumia Debate Ahead of January 31, 2026

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the ballot order for its much-anticipated January 31, 2026 presidential primary, and the development has immediately set social media and political circles ablaze.

While several aspirants remain in the race, national attention has once again narrowed to the party’s two most talked-about and favoured contenders — Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong argue that his bluntness, perceived independence, and “tell-it-as-it-is” politics resonate strongly with the party’s grassroots. Many believe his rise represents a protest vote against the political establishment and a desire for a more confrontational leadership style ahead of the 2028 general elections.

On the other side, loyalists of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the current Vice President, insist that experience, global exposure, and continuity remain the safest path for the NPP. They point to his economic background, international credibility, and years at the center of government decision-making as proof that he is best positioned to lead the party into the future.

The ballot order itself has now become part of the conversation, with supporters on both sides interpreting its psychological impact differently. Some argue it could subtly influence undecided delegates, while others dismiss it as irrelevant compared to campaign machinery, delegate loyalty, and regional dynamics.

Across Ghana and within the diaspora, debates rage on radio, WhatsApp platforms, X (Twitter), TikTok, and Facebook. The big question dominating discussions remains simple but divisive:

Is the NPP base ready for Kennedy Agyapong’s disruptive style, or will it rally behind Bawumia’s calm continuity?

As January 31 draws closer, the primary is shaping up not just as a vote, but as a referendum on the soul and direction of the NPP.

Public Debate Question:

As Ghanaians, who do you think is winning this race right now — Kennedy Agyapong or Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and why?

Has Ebo Noah Been Treated Fairly, or Singled Out? Ghana and the World React

The arrest and continued detention of self-styled prophet Ebo Noah has sparked intense debate across Ghana and beyond. Many are questioning whether due process and fairness have been fully observed in his case.

Has Ebo Noah Been Treated Fairly, or Singled Out? Ghana and the World React 22

Ebo Noah has reportedly been held in custody for over two weeks, with calls from sections of the public demanding clarity on the basis of his detention, as well as whether an immediate mental health evaluation—as suggested by some commentators—was necessary or handled appropriately.

At the same time, critics are asking why other alleged fake prophets, whose actions and prophecies have also drawn public concern, continue to walk freely without similar intervention.

Was Ebo Noah’s arrest influenced largely by his controversial “Noah’s Ark” stunt, which attracted massive public attention and ridicule? Or was this a justified enforcement of the law, applied fairly and equally?

This situation raises broader questions about selective justice, freedom of religion, mental health handling, and consistency in law enforcement.

How Many Years Should They Face? Public Demands Justice After Arrest of Women for Child Abuse

The arrest of three women captured in a viral video brutally assaulting a minor has sparked intense public debate across Ghana, with many citizens asking a critical question: how many years should they be jailed for child abuse?

The suspects, who are currently in police custody at the LA Police Station, were arrested following public outrage after the disturbing footage circulated widely on social media. The video showed the women physically attacking the child, an act that has been strongly condemned by the public, civil society groups, and child rights advocates.

Under Ghana’s laws, child abuse is treated as a serious criminal offence. Legal experts explain that offences involving assault, cruelty to children, and causing harm to a minor can attract several years of imprisonment, depending on the severity of injuries, intent, and circumstances surrounding the case. In aggravated cases, courts may impose long-term custodial sentences, alongside fines or additional sanctions.

Many Ghanaians believe the suspects should face lengthy prison sentences to serve as a deterrent to others. On social media, users are demanding punishment ranging from 5 to 15 years or more, arguing that violence against a defenseless child deserves the harshest consequences allowed by law.

Child rights activists insist that sentencing should reflect not just punishment, but protection. They argue that lenient penalties often embolden abusers and fail to safeguard vulnerable children. According to them, strong convictions and visible justice are necessary to send a clear message that child abuse will not be tolerated in Ghana.

Others have called for additional measures beyond imprisonment, including mandatory counselling, lifetime bans from caring for children, and closer monitoring of child welfare cases nationwide.

While public opinion remains strong, legal analysts caution that sentencing is solely the responsibility of the courts. Judges will consider evidence, medical reports, and the applicable laws before determining appropriate punishment if the suspects are found guilty.

As investigations continue, Ghanaians await prosecution and trial, hoping the outcome will deliver justice for the victim and reinforce Ghana’s commitment to protecting children.
