Telecel Ghana Launches FUNDiT Crowdfunding Platform
Telecel Mobile Financial Services, operators of Telecel Cash, has launched FUNDiT, a crowdfunding platform designed to help individuals, groups and organisations raise funds for various projects and causes.
Managing Director for Telecel Cash and Digital Transformation, Philip Amoateng, said FUNDiT forms part of Telecel’s broader focus on developing crowdfunding solutions for everyday challenges faced by individuals, groups and organisations.
“Our goal with FUNDiT is to make crowdfunding seamless and hassle-free. Beyond that, it’s a platform that guarantees your money is secure,” Amoateng said, adding that the platform is designed to turn individual contributions into collective impact.
According to Telecel, FUNDiT is built around Trust, Transparency, and Technology. Social causes submitted to the platform are subject to verification, with supporting documents including medical reports, school letters, community leader endorsements, photos and videos required as evidence.
Organisations such as NGOs are also subjected to a two-step vetting process involving business registration verification and founder Know Your Customer (KYC) checks using the Ghana Card.
The platform is open to everyone regardless of their mobile network or location. Beyond social and community causes, FUNDiT can be used for fundraising for alumni and family contributions, weddings, funerals, parties, community projects and corporate social responsibility campaigns.
Contributions can be made through all mobile money networks, including Telecel Cash, as well as bank cards and other available payment channels locally and internationally.
Dr. Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive for Corporate and Investment Banking at Absa Bank, FUNDiT’s banking partner, said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that expand access, empower people and foster inclusive communities.
AppsNmobile Solutions, the Ghanaian fintech company that developed the platform, is based in Accra and is licensed by the Bank of Ghana as an enhanced payment service provider. The company said the platform is intended to make it easier for people to support individuals, families, organisations and causes that matter to them.
FUNDiT is now available to the public, allowing individuals, groups, businesses and organisations to create campaigns or support causes through the platform.
