Thomas Partey Charged With Additional Rape Counts Ahead of November 2026 Trial

Ghana international and former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape in the United Kingdom, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The latest charges come months before his scheduled trial in November 2026, intensifying a legal case that has drawn global attention across football circles.

Thomas Partey arrives at court as additional charges are confirmed ahead of November trial.

Background to the Case

Partey, 32, was initially charged in July 2025 with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving allegations made by three separate women. He has pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges and denies all allegations against him. According to reporting by BBC News and Sky News, the alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 while he was playing in the Premier League.

New Charges Confirmed

On February 12, 2026, prosecutors authorised two further rape charges following what authorities describe as additional investigative findings by the Metropolitan Police. The new allegations reportedly involve a separate complainant and relate to non-recent alleged incidents. Partey is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in March 2026 in connection with the new counts, while his main trial remains scheduled for November 2, 2026, at Southwark Crown Court.

Bail Conditions and Football Career

The midfielder remains on conditional bail. Court conditions require him to notify authorities before international travel and prohibit contact with complainants. After leaving Arsenal at the end of his contract in June 2025, Partey signed for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal. He has continued to play professionally while the case proceeds.

His situation has also sparked debate within Ghanaian football circles, particularly regarding his future involvement with the Black Stars. Related developments in Ghanaian sports can be found on GhanaMedia.net Sports.

Presumption of Innocence

It is important to emphasise that these charges are allegations. Under UK law, Thomas Partey is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. The legal process is ongoing, and a final determination will be made at trial.
