ACCRA — The United States Embassy in Ghana has announced the release of tens of thousands of additional non-immigrant visa appointment slots to accommodate the high demand for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. This move comes as a significant relief to many who have faced lengthy backlogs in recent months.

Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson emphasized that the Embassy has expanded its consular capacity, deploying extra officers to Accra to process hundreds of daily interviews. However, the announcement came with a stern warning: while the US welcomes visitors for the tournament, visa overstays will be treated as serious legal violations. Ghanaian fans are encouraged to apply early to secure their travel plans for the North American hosted games.
