4 Arrested Over GoldBod CEO’s Father-in-Law Murder as Police Uncover Criminal Syndicate

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of Andrews Amankwa, the father-in-law of GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi.

Breakthrough Arrest in Kumasi

According to police, the first major breakthrough came on February 18, 2026, when Akwesi Menu was arrested in Kumasi. He was found in possession of the deceased’s Samsung mobile phone, a discovery that significantly advanced investigations.

Three More Suspects Arrested

Further intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of Bashiru Tanko, alias “Tiki”, Kwadwo Amponsah, alias “Kamakaze”, and Emmanuel Kwame Appiah, alias “Tola”. Police believe the four suspects played key roles in the robbery and fatal attack.

Alleged Gang Leader Dies After Shootout

The alleged gang leader, Eric Antwi Doku, sustained gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with police officers during the operation and later died at the hospital.

Wider Criminal Syndicate Uncovered

Investigations have revealed that the suspects were allegedly part of a larger criminal syndicate specializing in stealing pickup trucks and Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles across the country.

Items retrieved during the operation include a Bruni Mod 84 pistol, live ammunition, a vehicle tracking device, and several suspected stolen vehicles believed to be linked to previous robbery cases.

Police Assure Public of Justice

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all individuals connected to the criminal enterprise will be brought to justice. Authorities say efforts to clamp down on organized armed robbery and vehicle theft syndicates nationwide will be intensified.

The tragic killing of Andrews Amankwa has sparked widespread reactions, with many Ghanaians calling for swift justice and strengthened security measures.
