Ghanaian actress Shugatiti recently addressed critics who labeled her as a ‘prostitute’ for her social media presence.
Speaking on Kingdom FM with Fiifi Pratt, she shared her perspective on the term, arguing that any woman involved in multiple sexual relationships outside marriage could be considered as such.
“People call me a prostitute, but in my view, any woman who engages with multiple men without being married fits that definition. Personally, I’ve only dated one Nigerian,” she affirmed.
Shugatiti expanded on her definition of prostitution, noting that it extends beyond street solicitation to encompass anyone having multiple premarital relationships.
She dismissed online criticism, standing by her interpretation of the term. “It’s not just about street solicitation; it applies to anyone with multiple sexual partners outside of marriage,” she clarified.
The actress attributed economic challenges as a reason some women engage in relationships for financial support, such as mobile credit and rent.
Her comments sparked diverse reactions on social media, with actor Eddie Nartey expressing disagreement with her perspective on ‘prostitution.’
