Former Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has made his prediction for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award, tipping Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy ahead of strong contenders Mohammed Kudus from Ghana and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.
Despite Kudus’ impressive debut season at West Ham, Adebayor favors Guirassy for the prestigious accolade. Guirassy’s stellar performance with VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga has positioned him as a frontrunner, finishing second in the league’s Golden Boot race behind Harry Kane.
The French-born Guinean striker showcased his scoring prowess with 28 goals and 2 assists in just 28 league appearances during the 2023/24 season.
Adebayor, a former recipient of the CAF Player of the Year award himself, firmly supports Guirassy: “He had an exceptional season with Stuttgart, demonstrating prolific scoring. He is certainly a strong contender, especially given the performances of other players like Salah and Osimhen this year.
The competition is fierce, and if Guirassy wins, it will be thoroughly deserved.”
With Adebayor’s endorsement carrying weight, expectations are high for the announcement of the CAF Player of the Year, underscoring Guirassy’s rising prospects.
