Charterhouse, the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, have unveiled plans to establish a Hall of Fame dedicated to celebrating Ghana’s vibrant musical legacy.
CEO Theresah Ayoade announced this initiative at the TGMA Industry Mixer on July 13, 2024, marking a milestone in the awards’ 25-year history.
The Hall of Fame aims to preserve Ghana’s rich musical heritage by providing accessible industry data for research, education, and tourism. Ayoade emphasised the significance of collecting artefacts and memorabilia associated with influential figures and pivotal moments in Ghanaian music history.
She urged industry stakeholders and individuals to contribute to the project, which will involve collaborations with curators, UNESCO, and the National Museum.
Negotiations with the National Museum have secured a designated space for the Hall of Fame, pending essential renovations and funding. Charterhouse plans to inaugurate the museum by December 2024, enhancing its portfolio of cultural events.
Renowned for organising flagship events such as Miss Malaika and A Night of Laughs and Music, Charterhouse aims to solidify its role in promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage through this ambitious endeavour.
