At 29, Alexander Djiku is thriving under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, who became the head coach of Fenerbahce in June. While Mourinho began pre-season training last month, Djiku was granted extra time off after playing in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Now, the Ghanaian center-back has joined his club teammates in their pre-season preparations, developing a promising relationship with his new manager.

Viral photos from a recent training session show Mourinho with his arm around Djiku, which many Ghanaian fans interpret as a sign of their good relationship.

Since joining Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 after leaving Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg, Djiku has become an integral part of the team.
