In a thrilling contest at the SGS Auditorium on October 20, 2024, Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary secured a hard-fought victory to reach the quarter-finals of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
They narrowly defeated St. Mary’s Boys’ with 33 points, leaving them just 3 points behind at 30, while Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS trailed with 19 points.
The match saw intense competition, especially in the final rounds. Both Pope John and St. Mary’s were tied at 30 points by the end of the regular rounds, forcing a tiebreaker. Pope John emerged victorious, crushing St. Mary’s hopes in a dramatic finish.
Despite a strong lead by St. Mary’s in earlier rounds, the “Goil Riddle Bonanza” favored Pope John SHS, allowing them to answer two out of four riddles and secure the win. The contest was an emotional rollercoaster for participants and supporters alike.
