Ghanaian gospel musician Grace Ashy has revealed a shocking incident involving the Ghana Football Association (GFA) during Ghana’s historic qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Onua TV, the singer disclosed that the GFA wrote to the German embassy advising them to deny her a visa for the tournament, despite her contributions to the Black Stars’ morale through her songs.
According to Ashy, former President John Agyekum Kufuor had tasked the GFA to ensure her inclusion in the trip to Germany due to her role in inspiring the national team and engaging women in football.
Her songs became an anthem for Ghanaians as the Black Stars reached the tournament’s round of 16. However, she claims that the letter she received from the GFA led to her visa denial, preventing her from joining the historic moment.
