Ghanaians are outraged after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo unveiled a statue of himself at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, sparking widespread criticism on social media.
The statue was revealed during a “thank you” tour of the Western Region, with the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, defending it as a commemoration of the President’s contributions to the region, including the rehabilitation of the hospital, construction of a three-tier Sinohydro interchange, and redevelopment of Takoradi Market Circle.
However, many of these projects remain incomplete, leading to accusations of “undeserved self-aggrandisement.”
President Akufo-Addo claimed that about 80% of his campaign promises have been fulfilled, highlighting advancements in education, healthcare, infrastructure development, industrial reform, agriculture, and cocoa production.
He also urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the forthcoming elections, presenting Free Senior High School (SHS) as his legacy.
