Libyan giants Al Ahli Benghazi have officially announced the signing of striker Albert Amoah from Asante Kotoko SC shortly after the club’s painful exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
The young forward, who was tipped by many as one of Kotoko’s brightest attacking prospects, will now continue his career in Libya — a move that has generated mixed reactions among fans and football pundits in Ghana.
Some supporters believe Albert Amoah’s decision to leave the Ghanaian giants so early is a result of financial pressure, with many stressing that patience could have opened bigger opportunities, including a potential Black Stars call-up for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
Football lovers also recalled a similar case involving Imoro Ibrahim, a former Kotoko defender who joined the same Libyan club under Coach Ogum’s era. Since that move, Imoro’s career has largely gone silent on the international stage, raising concerns about the long-term impact of such transfers.
While Al Ahli Benghazi expressed excitement over their new signing, Ghanaians continue to debate whether Amoah’s move is a step forward or a step backward in his promising career.
