Amazon Cargo Plane Crash in Miami Leaves at Least Five Dead

At least five people have died after an Amazon Prime Air cargo aircraft overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport in Florida, striking multiple vehicles and catching fire.

The crash occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at about 2 p.m. local time. The aircraft was Prime Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft operated by 21 Air after departing from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Five People Killed, Five Others Injured

Miami-Dade County officials confirmed that five people were killed and another five were injured. Three of the injured victims were taken to a trauma centre in critical condition, while two others were transported to hospitals with less severe injuries.

Emergency crews found the aircraft with heavy smoke and flames after it came to rest beyond the runway. Several vehicles were also struck as the aircraft left the airport grounds.

Aircraft Overran Runway During Landing

The Federal Aviation Administration said 21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport. The Boeing 767-300 had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The FAA has opened an investigation, while the National Transportation Safety Board is also involved in determining what led to the accident. The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
