Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has shown his support for the ongoing protests in Accra aimed at ending illegal mining, known as galamsey.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Anas praised the protesters for their bravery in addressing the harmful effects of galamsey on the environment. He encouraged them to stay firm, despite any intimidation they may face, as their cause is just.
Anas tweeted, “I stand in solidarity with the youth protesting illegal mining. Intimidation may come, but we must stay united to defend our country. Ghana deserves better.” The protest also demands the release of individuals detained during a previous protest.
Online supporters, led by figures like KalyJay, have also joined the movement to spread the message through social media platforms.
