Bank of Ghana Hosts Over 250 Pupils for Currency Education Session at Bank Square

In a bid to promote financial literacy among the younger generation, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has hosted more than 250 pupils from five different schools at its Bank Square premises in Accra for an insightful currency education session.

The event forms part of the central bank’s continuous efforts to educate schoolchildren on the importance of money, currency security features, savings culture, and financial discipline. Officials from the Currency Department took the students through practical lessons on how to identify genuine Ghana cedi notes, handle money responsibly, and understand the role of the Bank of Ghana in maintaining the country’s financial stability.

Participating schools expressed their excitement and appreciation for the eye-opening experience, describing it as both educational and inspiring. The pupils also had the rare opportunity to tour the Bank Square, interact with BoG staff, and learn about Ghana’s monetary history and the evolution of the cedi.

According to the Bank, similar outreach programs will be extended to other regions to ensure that young Ghanaians across the country develop a sound understanding of currency management and the value of saving from an early age.

The initiative underscores BoG’s commitment to building a financially informed future generation capable of making wise monetary decisions and supporting national economic growth.
