Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the leader of Ghana’s #FixTheCountry movement, has publicly shared an audio recording reportedly capturing a conversation with an unnamed minister discussing an alleged government bribe offer.
In the recording, the minister proposes a private meeting involving the Minister for Finance, as well as logistical support for Barker-Vormawor’s safe return to Ghana.
This follows Barker-Vormawor’s recent claim that he was offered $1 million by Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah in 2021 to end his activism.
The Ministry of National Security has denied this allegation but confirmed a 2021 meeting between the minister and #FixTheCountry members.
Barker-Vormawor asserts that during the meeting, the minister hinted at a government appointment if he halted his advocacy.
The unfolding dispute has led Kan-Dapaah to file a defamation suit against Barker-Vormawor, with the case ongoing in Accra’s High Court.
