At this year’s Tidal Rave event, held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Black Sherif took a moment during his performance to denounce illegal mining (galamsey) and its harmful effects on Ghana’s water bodies and forests.
The “Kwaku the Traveller” star shared disturbing footage of the environmental damage caused by galamsey, which struck a chord with the audience, who passionately chanted his name.
This bold move makes the 22-year-old musician the latest Ghanaian celebrity to voice concerns over galamsey, following artists like Gyakie and Dr. Likee, who have also condemned the practice. Dr. Likee even hinted at a forthcoming movie addressing the issue.
Despite an earlier rainstorm that delayed the event’s start, fans flocked to enjoy performances from big names like R2Bees, Edem, Kwesi Arthur, Pappy Kojo, and more. Black Sherif’s act, alongside Stonebwoy and Sarkodie, was a highlight of the night, leaving the crowd energized.
