Ghanaian journalist and radio presenter Blakk Rasta has weighed in on John Dumelo’s recent apology to Lydia Alhassan, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate, issued the apology on social media after making derogatory comments about Alhassan, which sparked widespread criticism.
Blakk Rasta suggested that Dumelo should take a more personal approach by meeting Alhassan in person to apologize. He recommended that Dumelo record the encounter and share it online, as it could significantly benefit his campaign.
“If you want to win this election, please go to Lydia Seyram Alhassan. Somebody tell John to go to her and apologize one-on-one. Whether on tape or off tape, if you’re able to get it on tape, it’s a bigger plus,” Blakk Rasta advised.
He also proposed that Dumelo bring thoughtful gifts during the visit, saying, “Shake her hand, take a bouquet of flowers, and some fruits from your farm to her. Whether she eats it or not, as long as it is accepted, it is done. Your apology is beautiful but it is just in the air. Meet her one-on-one and apologize.
