CAF reschedules dates for 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the next edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will be held in July 2025.

Originally scheduled for this year in Morocco, the decision to postpone the tournament was made during a CAF Executive Committee meeting on June 21, 2024.

The 21-day event is set to kick off on July 5 and will run until July 26, 2025. This adjustment was prompted by uncertainties following the completion of the qualifiers.

Patrice Motsepe, CAF’s president, expressed his optimism about the growth of women’s football in Africa and expressed hopes for a successful WAFCON in Morocco in 2024. He reaffirmed CAF’s dedication to elevating African football to compete effectively on the global stage.

CAF also conveyed gratitude to King Mohamed VI of Morocco and the Moroccan Football Federation for their commitment to hosting both AFCON 2025 and WAFCON 2024.

Ghana’s national women’s team, the Black Queens, have secured their spot in the upcoming competition after missing out on the previous edition in 2018.
