Defender Alexander Djiku is set to rejoin the Black Stars for their crucial 2025 AFCON qualifying matches against Sudan.
Djiku had been sidelined due to fitness concerns but has returned to form, playing in three of Fenerbahce’s last four matches.
Ghana’s defense suffered without him, conceding late goals in matches against Angola and Niger, leaving them third in their group with only one point from two games. Djiku’s presence is vital as the Black Stars need two victories to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Djiku’s solid performances, including three clean sheets under manager Jose Mourinho, provide much-needed stability for the team as they prepare for these must-win matches. The squad is expected to start training on Monday, with coach Otto Addo announcing the lineup this Friday.
The matches are scheduled for October 11 at the Accra Sports Stadium and October 14 in Libya.
