Strengthening Ghana–France Military Cooperation

The visit focused on deepening the existing defence partnership between Ghana and France, particularly in the areas of personnel training, operational collaboration, and strategic security cooperation.

Officials say the engagement reflects growing efforts by both nations to enhance defence capabilities and promote stability in West Africa.

France has long maintained defence and security partnerships with several African countries, supporting training programmes, joint operations, and intelligence cooperation aimed at addressing regional security threats.

Focus on Regional Security and Training

During the meeting, discussions also centred on improving professional military training opportunities for Ghanaian personnel and strengthening operational collaboration between the two armed forces.

Security cooperation has become increasingly important across West Africa as countries work together to address emerging threats, including terrorism, organised crime, and cross-border instability in the wider Sahel region.
