Mabel Tiwaa Rockson, a member of the Ghanaian Gospel music group Halleluyah Voices, has spoken out about the ongoing copyright infringement controversy involving Team Eternity.
The issue arose after Kwame Mickey, a Ghanaian music producer based in the USA, accused Team Eternity of using a portion of a song he produced without obtaining permission, threatening legal action if necessary.
In an interview with Dave Hammer on Hello FM in Kumasi, which was reported by Ghanamedia.net, Mrs. Tiwaa Rockson provided her perspective on the matter. She revealed that she had intentions to create a remix of the song in question.
However, before she could proceed, she heard her children singing a different version of the song, which led her to believe they had already made their own remix.
It was only after this incident that her husband informed her about Kwame Mickey’s social media post regarding the song and the dispute with Team Eternity. Mrs. Tiwaa Rockson mentioned that last week, her husband received a surprising phone call from Team Eternity, during which they allegedly suggested that they should not escalate the issue as if they were secular artists.
As of now, Team Eternity has not issued a public statement addressing the allegations and the copyright dispute. The situation continues to unfold amidst discussions about intellectual property rights and the importance of adhering to proper copyright protocols within Ghana’s music industry.

He continued, “I urge anyone who thinks he is not a good goalkeeper to monitor him at his club, and after watching him, you can decide whether he is good or bad. We shouldn’t only base our judgment on statistics.”
Atanga highlighted the importance of considering the context of a goalkeeper’s performance: “A goalkeeper can concede goals during a game but still make a lot of saves. We played together at Salzburg, and he was nearly turned into an outfield player.
Ati-Zigi is a very good goalkeeper; there is just a lot of pressure when playing for Ghana. In our last two games against Mali and the Central African Republic, our defenders underperformed, and the goalkeeper was blamed.”
Ati-Zigi has been Ghana’s first choice since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, briefly losing his spot to Richard Ofori during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, but has since reclaimed his position. Atanga’s comments aim to provide a more balanced view of Ati-Zigi’s abilities and the challenges he faces, calling for greater support and understanding from fans.
Music Record Label, OFM Computer World known as DrAcheampong Kasa who manages German-based gospel artist Queenlet, has asked YouTube to pull down Team Eternity Ghana’s hit song “Defe Defe” over alleged copyright infringement.
In a letter to the platform, the record label stated that the popular song reused portions of the original copyrighted song “Defe Defe” by Hallelujah Voices without their permission.
As such, they have requested that the platform change the song’s visibility to prevent individuals from accessing it ahead of pending legal action.
“But before any legal action is taken in Ghana’s capital city court, I request YouTube to make the video private, not visible since its copyright infringement,” the label said.
This was contained in a letter signed by OFM Computer World on June 20.
The letter also asserted that the music group often sampled songs by other musicians without the owners’ permission.
On June 18, in a Facebook post, Kwame Mickey, the executive producer for Hallelujah Voices’ ‘Defe Defe’, alleged that Team Eternity Ghana has infringed on his copyright by using the ‘defe defe’ line for their new hit song.
He wrote: “Who is that Defe Defe singer? If I start right now them go say I am ‘mansonia’. What is the difference between the two songs? Somebody tell her to report and do the needful. That’s all.”
Although structurally, the rhythmic patterns and melodic phrases of the two lines are different, Kwame Mickey is making a case for the similarities in the lyrical content.
‘Defe Defe’ song performed by Hallelujah Voices, was written by Osuani Afrifa and executively produced by Kwame Mickey for Kaakyire Music Productions. It was released in 2004.
The recent copyright issue has sparked a lot of debate. While some argue that Team Eternity’s “Defe Defe” is different from Hallelujah Voices’ song, others contend that the mere fact that two lines are literally the same constitutes copyright infringement.

Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has expressed concerns over the scheduling of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, highlighting the challenges it poses for African players.
The tournament’s new dates, set between December 2025 and January 2026, were announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following an Executive Council meeting last Friday.
