Ex-Nigeria striker SAMSON SIASIA has admitted that ABEDI PELE was the key reason for Ghana’s triumph over Nigeria in the 1992 AFCON semi-final.
Nigeria took an early lead, but Abedi equalized before halftime and orchestrated Ghana’s winning goal by Prince Polley. Siasia recalled how Abedi’s performance dismantled their hopes.
Despite Ghana losing the final to Ivory Coast on penalties, Abedi’s brilliance earned him the tournament’s best player award and later the prestigious CAF Player of the Year title.
His impact on African football remains legendary.
