Michael Essien, former Ghanaian international, admits it’s still painful that the Black Stars couldn’t secure a major title during his career.
Essien, who played for the national team from 2002 to 2012, was part of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinal and the 2010 final, where Egypt defeated Ghana.
“It hurts we didn’t win a trophy because we were so close, especially in 2008,” Essien shared in a recent interview.
Despite the setbacks, Essien remains proud of his career, emphasizing the need to move forward.
