Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil played a pivotal role in LA Galaxy’s 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders, clinching the MLS Western Conference trophy and advancing to the MLS Cup final.
Paintsil, who joined Galaxy this season from Belgian side Genk, has impressed with 10 goals and seven assists in 29 league games. In the playoffs, he added three goals and an assist, showcasing his value.
Despite a challenging game against Seattle, with no shots on target but an 88% passing accuracy, Paintsil’s contributions throughout the season were crucial. Teammate Dejan Joveljic netted the decisive goal in the 86th minute to secure the victory.
LA Galaxy will now face New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup final on December 7, 2024, in Los Angeles, aiming for their sixth title. Paintsil could join Ghanaian legends Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful as an MLS Cup champion.
