Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United is facing backlash after receiving a red card during a disappointing 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Ghanaian star, who initially put his team ahead with a stunning goal in the 18th minute, was sent off for violent conduct in the 86th minute following a clash with Spurs defender Micky van de Ven.
This dismissal not only sidelines Kudus for three upcoming matches but also reignites tensions with manager Julen Lopetegui. The two have had previous disagreements, and Lopetegui did not hold back in expressing his disappointment over Kudus’ disciplinary issues.
While acknowledging Kudus’ strong first-half performance, the manager stated, “You’ve got to control frustration in these moments.” He lamented Kudus’ inability to maintain composure when it mattered most.
The red card, which followed a VAR review for hitting van de Ven and another Spurs player, has raised concerns about Kudus’ focus.
Despite these challenges, Kudus remains one of West Ham’s key players, but his growing frustration could affect his performance in future matches.
