Liverpool and other top European clubs are eyeing Karim Konate, a 20-year-old forward from RB Salzburg who had a standout season in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Konate scored 20 goals in 29 games last season, surpassing his closest competitor, Marco Grull of Rapid Vienna, and drawing significant attention in the transfer market.
Liverpool’s interest in Konate is clear, although negotiations are not yet advanced. If Liverpool seeks a new striker this summer, Konate is a top candidate for their squad. However, competition from other Premier League giants like Manchester United suggests a potential transfer saga.
Interest in Konate extends beyond England, with clubs in Italy and Germany closely monitoring him. Following in the footsteps of former Salzburg stars Benjamin Sesko and Erling Haaland, Konate appears poised to be the next prominent striker to leave the Austrian club.
RB Salzburg holds Konate under contract until June 2028, having renewed his deal last August. They are likely to command a transfer fee similar to those received for Sesko (€24 million) and Haaland (€20 million).
Liverpool may have an advantage in negotiations due to their former assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, who is set to lead Salzburg next season, potentially influencing the deal.
