Former Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien has opened up about his decision to reject the Black Stars assistant coaching job.
Essien was approached by Otto Addo and GFA President Kurt Okraku before the reappointment of Addo in 2024. However, the ex-Chelsea star, currently an assistant coach at FC Nordsjaelland, felt he wasn’t ready for the role.

“I wouldn’t say I refused, but I just wasn’t ready,” he told Sporty FM.
Despite missing out on trophies with Ghana, Essien remains confident the Black Stars will soon claim silverware.
