Ghanaian actress and fashion icon Nana Akua Addo has become the centre of a developing domestic violence controversy after videos and photographs showing her with visible injuries circulated widely online.
Reports published on October 6, 2026, said Nana Akua Addo had received medical treatment after footage emerged showing what appeared to be a swollen lip, an injury around her eye and blood on her clothing. The circumstances surrounding the injuries have been the subject of competing accounts and have not been independently established.
Some reports subsequently said her estranged husband, Harold Duodu Norman, had been arrested and was assisting investigations by the Ghana Police Service’s Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
Viral Videos Raise Concern
The controversy intensified after several videos began circulating on social media. One showed Nana Akua Addo receiving medical attention, while other footage reportedly captured a heated family confrontation.
Another widely circulated video allegedly showed Norman physically handling and slapping one of the couple’s daughters. Reports said Nana Akua could be heard reacting during the incident and pleading for her child. Because children are involved, the footage has also raised concerns over privacy and responsible reporting.
Nana Akua Addo reportedly appealed for the removal of material involving her children, according to reports on her reaction to the circulating videos.
Husband’s Lawyers Deny Assault Allegation
Norman’s legal representatives have disputed the narrative that he assaulted Nana Akua Addo.
In a statement dated October 6, 2026, his lawyers said the images and videos circulating online were being used to create a particular public narrative. They stated that the matter is already before DOVVSU and is also connected to civil proceedings involving the couple, identified as Rosemond Akua Adobea vrs Harold Duodu Norman, Suit No. DM/0607/2026.
According to the lawyers’ account, an injury visible in some of the viral material dates back to 2021. They alleged that Nana Akua confronted Norman over suspected infidelity after he returned from an event and that she attempted to attack him with a knife.
The lawyers further claimed that Norman used a dressing mirror to protect himself and that broken glass subsequently caused an injury to Nana Akua’s lip. They strongly disputed claims that Norman caused the injury through physical assault. These claims are allegations from Norman’s legal team and have not been established as fact.
Norman Also Shows Alleged Injuries
In a separate video that circulated online, Norman appeared to show scratches, bite marks and blood on parts of his body, claiming that he had also been physically attacked during the domestic dispute.
Reports said the video emerged after footage of Nana Akua receiving medical treatment had gained attention. Norman’s account has added another dimension to the controversy, with both sides now being represented through competing allegations.
Sista Afia Expresses Support
Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has also spoken publicly amid the controversy, expressing sympathy for Nana Akua Addo and saying she could relate to the pain being discussed.
In a message shared online, Sista Afia said she had experienced a similar situation and offered Nana Akua words of encouragement, strength and support.
Police Investigation and Court Proceedings
The case has now moved beyond social media commentary, with reports indicating that DOVVSU is investigating the matter and that related civil proceedings are ongoing.
Reports about Norman’s arrest have circulated widely, although some reports noted that an official police statement confirming the arrest had not been located at the time of publication. The conflicting accounts make it important to distinguish between what has been reported, what has been alleged by either party and what has been formally established.
For now, the allegations involving Nana Akua Addo, Norman and their family remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings. Neither the viral videos nor statements from either side should be treated as a final determination of responsibility.
