Obuasi SDA Basic School has emerged as champions of the 3rd Edition of the Aseda 92.3 FM Science and Maths Radio Quiz Competition 2026, reaffirming the school’s strong record in the competition.
The competition, organized by Aseda FM in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service – Obuasi Municipality and Obuasi East, together with other local stakeholders, brought together more than 50 basic schools to compete in Science, Mathematics, critical thinking, speed and teamwork.
After several thrilling rounds, students of Obuasi SDA JHS demonstrated exceptional knowledge, confidence and teamwork to lift the coveted trophy.
A Legacy of Excellence
The latest victory further highlights Obuasi SDA JHS’s impressive record in the competition. The school won the 1st Edition, finished as 2nd Runners-Up in the 2nd Edition, and has now returned to the top by winning the 3rd Edition.
School authorities say the achievement reflects consistency, discipline, hard work and teamwork among the students, teachers and coaches who prepared for the competition.
Appreciation for Teachers, Parents and Supporters
Management of the school has expressed appreciation to the SDA Education Unit for its leadership and oversight of SDA schools in the Ashanti Region, particularly its emphasis on Christian values, discipline, integrity and responsibility in developing young people.
The school also commended its management, teachers and coaches for their dedication and rigorous preparation, while congratulating the champion students for making their teachers, parents, the SDA Church and the wider Obuasi community proud.
Further appreciation was extended to parents, church members, old students and community members for their prayers, encouragement and support throughout the competition.
School Appeals for Support
Following the victory, the school appealed to the SDA Education Unit, church leadership, parents, old students, corporate organizations and other stakeholders to support the institution with improved infrastructure, furniture, Science and Mathematics teaching materials and educational technology.
According to the school, such support would help strengthen teaching and learning and provide students with improved opportunities to develop their academic abilities.
The achievement places Obuasi SDA JHS among the standout performers of the Aseda FM Science and Maths Quiz and marks another significant moment for the school and the Obuasi community.
