Ghanaian rapper Edwin Kwame Ohene Darko, popularly known as Pope Skinny, has spoken out about his past association with Reggae/Dancehall icon Shatta Wale, emphasizing that the star is often misunderstood.
In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo show, the “Hot Cake” rapper explained that Shatta Wale’s outspoken personality is often mistaken for aggression, but in reality, he only responds when provoked.
Pope Skinny also shared how much he learned from Shatta Wale, stating, “I gained confidence from Shatta Wale, and he also taught me how to handle money wisely.” He highlighted that Shatta Wale is a disciplined saver.
Addressing rumors that Shatta Wale bought him a Mercedes Benz, Pope Skinny clarified that while Shatta introduced a new Benz to the family, he never claimed it was for him.
Despite their falling out, Pope Skinny expressed how much he misses Shatta Wale and acknowledged the positive influence he had on his personal growth, especially in terms of financial management and self-confidence.
