Celebrated dancehall artist Shatta Wale has revealed that his hit single “On God” was sparked by public comparisons to rising star Black Sherif.
Appearing on Glitch Africa Studios’ podcast Rants, Bants, and Confessions, hosted by Efia Odo, Gisela Amponsah, and Ama Burland, Shatta Wale shared how he felt these comparisons were “disrespectful” and urged him to hit the studio.
Shatta Wale described the experience as deeply spiritual, saying, “I sat down to record the song, and angels were in my room.”
He emphasized that “On God” emerged from this sacred energy, adding, “I am like the phoenix” in Ghana’s music scene, standing resilient and unmatched.
