The Black Stars hold great importance in my life – Andre Ayew

Ghana’s captain, Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew, recently emphasized his patriotic dedication to the Black Stars, stating that his commitment is driven by love for his country, not financial motives.

Speaking at the University of Ghana, Ayew highlighted the national team’s importance to him and his family, and the sacrifices he makes to represent Ghana.

At 34, and currently a free agent after leaving Le Havre, Ayew takes immense pride in wearing the national jersey, despite not earning a living from it. With 120 appearances and 24 goals for Ghana, his dedication remains strong.

Ayew also reflected on his journey to becoming captain, serving six years as deputy to Asamoah Gyan, and expressed confidence that his leadership will eventually be accepted despite media scrutiny.
