Former Ghanaian striker Prince Tagoe has voiced concerns over the Black Stars’ recent struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, attributing their poor performance to a lack of player character.
Ghana has only managed two points from their first three Group F matches, following a goalless draw against Sudan on October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. This result further jeopardizes the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for AFCON 2025.

Tagoe, in an interview with Bryt FM, emphasized the need for players to bring the same intensity they show at club level to national team games. “If the players can replicate 80% of their club performances, we will win games. The issue lies in the character they display when playing for the Black Stars,” he said.
Ghana will now prepare for a crucial return leg against Sudan in Tripoli, Libya, where they must secure a victory to keep their AFCON dreams alive.
