This is how womanising worried Asamoah Gyan’s career

Former Ghanaian football captain Asamoah Gyan has reflected on one of his greatest regrets—his involvement in womanizing throughout his career. Despite earning a substantial fortune over nearly two decades in professional football before retiring last year, Gyan admitted that his past choices didn’t serve him well.

Speaking on Onua Showbiz with Nana Ama McBrown, he said, “Everyone womanises, but it didn’t help me at all. Sometimes, it’s out of excitement, but it wasn’t worth it.” He urged people to keep their relationship matters private, as sharing too much can lead to complications.

In November 2023, Gyan’s name resurfaced in the media after his marriage to Gifty Gyan was officially annulled. The couple, once happily married in 2013, saw their relationship crumble, resulting in a bitter divorce battle.

In 2018, Gyan filed for divorce, questioning the paternity of their three children and requesting a DNA test. After years of legal proceedings, the court ruled in October 2023 that Gyan was indeed the father of all three children.

As part of the court’s decision, Gyan was ordered to pay GHC 25,000 per month for the children’s welfare, excluding school fees and medical expenses. Additionally, his ex-wife was awarded properties, including a house in the UK, a four-bedroom apartment in Ghana, a gas station in Prampram, and a BMW car, as part of the settlement.
