The Electoral Commission (EC) has warned that votes cast for Akua Donkor in the upcoming presidential election will be considered invalid.
Despite the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) leader’s passing, her name and image remain on the ballot due to the EC’s decision to retain the established structure.
Dr. Asare Bossman, Deputy EC Chairman, emphasized the commission’s commitment to voter education to prevent invalid votes.
He explained that 90% of ballots were printed before Akua Donkor’s demise, making her removal impractical.
Meanwhile, Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana insists Akua Donkor’s name be removed, citing potential confusion among voters.
Philip Appiah Kubi, GFP’s replacement candidate, was disqualified earlier due to errors in his nomination form.
