Former Black Stars striker Tony Yeboah has made startling allegations about corruption in the national team’s player selection process.
Speaking to Happy Sports, as reported by Ghanaweb, Yeboah revealed that financial incentives often outweigh merit in deciding who gets called up.
“I once recommended a player for the team, but a management member requested money before considering the player,” Yeboah shared.
This revelation comes at a time when the Black Stars are under intense scrutiny following their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team, under Otto Addo, failed to secure a single win in five qualifying matches, marking their first AFCON absence in over 20 years.
Fans and stakeholders are demanding reforms to restore transparency and performance in the national team.
