Thirteen people have died and five others are critically injured following a devastating road crash involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace on the Sege Highway towards Ada in the Greater Accra Region.
The fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) dispatched to the scene after the crash was reported.
According to reports, all 18 people involved in the accident were occupants of the two vehicles. Thirteen of them sadly lost their lives, while the remaining five sustained critical injuries.
The five survivors have been transported to the Sege Polyclinic, where they are receiving medical attention.
Emergency Responders Attend Scene
The Sege Fire Station responded to the crash, with firefighters involved in efforts to extricate victims from the wreckage.
A GNFS official said the accident was reported at about 6:30 a.m., with emergency personnel arriving at the scene shortly afterwards.
The severity of the crash required rescuers to work to free victims trapped inside the damaged vehicles.
