Ghanaian paralympic team vanishes in Norway: Scandal rocks sporting community

Ghana’s sporting scene has been rocked by a bizarre incident involving the disappearance of the Paralympic team sent to compete in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo, Norway.

According to a leaked letter from the Ministry of National Security, an eleven-member team, including athletes, coaches, and support staff, arrived in Oslo on April 25, 2024, for the marathon scheduled for April 27th. However, the team never registered for the competition and vanished shortly after arrival.

The letter details a series of unsettling events. One team member, Nana Antwi, was apprehended by Norwegian authorities on April 26th while attempting to leave the country for Sweden. Sadly, the team’s coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, passed away in Oslo on May 17th. The remaining nine members are currently unaccounted for, with Norwegian authorities searching for them.

The Ministry of National Security expresses concern that this incident will damage Ghana’s reputation and make it difficult for future Ghanaian sports teams to secure travel visas for international competitions.

The news has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s sporting community, with many left bewildered by the team’s actions. While the official document sheds no light on their motives, some media outlets speculate the team members might have been attempting to immigrate to Europe.

The full story behind this event remains shrouded in mystery. We will have to wait for further developments and official statements to understand the reasons behind the team’s disappearance. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by athletes and the importance of robust support systems within the sporting community.
