Former Environment Minister says party’s core values have been abandoned
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng rejects current direction of NPP
Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and senior statesman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has publicly distanced himself from the current leadership and direction of the party.
According to the respected academic and politician, the core values, principles, and traditions that once defined the NPP have been significantly eroded. He stated that the party he once served with pride no longer reflects the ideals upon which it was founded.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng described the present state of the NPP as a “fake version” of the party, stressing that he cannot identify with leadership decisions and internal practices that, in his view, undermine integrity, accountability, and service to the Ghanaian people.
His comments add to growing concerns among party faithful and political observers about internal dissatisfaction within the NPP, particularly from founding members and senior figures who believe the party has drifted from its original ideological path.
The former minister, who has been vocal in recent years about governance, environmental protection, and ethical leadership, emphasized that political parties must remain grounded in their founding values to maintain public trust and national relevance.

As Ghana approaches another crucial political period, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s stance is expected to fuel further debate about leadership, reform, and the future direction of the ruling party.
