KFC GH¢15 Frenzy: Why Ghanaians Stormed Branches Nationwide as Chaos and Chicken Controversy Explode

KFC Ghana’s GH¢15 anniversary promotion has triggered an extraordinary rush across the country, with thousands of customers flocking to branches, massive queues forming and chaotic scenes emerging at some outlets.

The promotion, introduced to mark KFC Ghana’s 15th anniversary, offered customers one piece of chicken, two tenders and small chips for just GH¢15 on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The heavily discounted offer drew customers from early morning, with some reportedly arriving at branches as early as 7:00 a.m. to secure the deal.

KFC GH¢15 Frenzy Sends Ghana Into Chaos

Why Were Ghanaians Storming KFC Branches?

The simple answer is the price. A full KFC meal being offered for just GH¢15 created enormous demand, particularly among students, young people and customers who normally consider the fast-food chain relatively expensive.

As word of the promotion spread across social media, anticipation grew rapidly. Videos posted on X, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms showed increasingly long queues at branches across Ghana, turning the anniversary promotion into one of the country’s biggest social-media trends of the weekend.

Reports from MyJoyOnline indicated that customers turned up in large numbers at branches nationwide, with some outlets experiencing severe overcrowding. The promotion was specifically tied to KFC Ghana’s celebration of 15 years of operations in the country.

From Long Queues to Chaos

What began as a promotional campaign quickly became controversial when crowds at some branches became difficult to control.

Videos circulating online showed customers packed tightly around outlets and, in some cases, struggling to gain access. At certain locations, security personnel were reportedly seen using canes to control or disperse customers as tensions increased.

At the KFC branch in Ashaiman, the situation escalated further after a glass door was damaged under the pressure of the crowd. The branch was subsequently shut down following the incident.

Ghanaian social-media users have since criticised the crowd-control measures, particularly allegations that security personnel assaulted customers. Calls have also emerged for KFC Ghana to review how large promotional campaigns are planned and managed.

KNUST Students Caught in the Rush

The KFC frenzy was not limited to Accra and its surrounding communities. A viral video from the KNUST area showed students and other customers joining the rush for the GH¢15 deal.

The scenes generated widespread reactions online, with some Ghanaians expressing disbelief at the intensity of the queues while others argued that the unusually low price explained why so many people were willing to wait for hours.

The KNUST scenes became part of a wider social-media conversation about the lengths consumers would go to take advantage of a major discount.

But Why Did the Promotion Become Such a Big Deal?

KFC’s GH¢15 offer combined three powerful factors: brand popularity, a sharply discounted price and a one-day promotional window.

Because the deal was available for a limited period, customers had a strong incentive to visit branches early rather than risk missing out. The rapid spread of videos showing people already queuing also appeared to create a sense of urgency among others who had not yet visited a branch.

In effect, social media became an amplifier for the promotion. Every video of a crowded KFC outlet encouraged more people to check their nearest branch, creating an even larger cycle of demand.

Then Came the Viral Chicken-Head Controversy

While the GH¢15 promotion was already dominating social media, another disturbing image began circulating online showing what appears to be a fried chicken piece containing the head of a bird.

The image has been shared alongside claims connecting it to KFC and has triggered outrage among some Ghanaians, particularly because it appeared at the same time the brand was experiencing unprecedented attention over its anniversary promotion.

However, GhanaMedia.net has not independently established that the pictured food originated from KFC Ghana. The image and the claims accompanying it should therefore be treated as unverified social-media material unless KFC Ghana or another credible source confirms the circumstances.

KFC Faces Questions Over Crowd Management

The controversy surrounding the promotion is now broader than the GH¢15 price itself. The scenes at some branches have raised questions about whether sufficient crowd-management arrangements were in place for a promotion capable of attracting such extraordinary demand.

The damage reported at the Ashaiman branch and allegations concerning the treatment of customers have intensified those questions.

For a major international fast-food brand operating dozens of outlets across Ghana, large promotional events require careful planning around customer numbers, security, entrances, queues, stock availability and emergency response.

Ghanaians Turn KFC Into the Weekend’s Biggest Trend

The remarkable scenes have made KFC one of the biggest talking points on Ghanaian social media this weekend.

Some users have mocked the extraordinary queues and questioned why people were willing to endure difficult conditions for discounted chicken. Others have defended the customers, arguing that GH¢15 represented a significant bargain at a time when food and living costs remain major concerns for many households.

The debate has therefore gone beyond KFC itself and touched on consumer behaviour, affordability, marketing and the economic realities facing ordinary Ghanaians.

What Happens Next?

With the one-day GH¢15 anniversary offer now over, attention is shifting to KFC Ghana’s response to the incidents recorded at some branches.

Questions remain over crowd-control arrangements, the reported use of force by some security personnel, the damage at Ashaiman and the unverified chicken-head image circulating online.

GhanaMedia.net will continue monitoring the situation and will distinguish confirmed information from claims circulating on social media.

Okada Riders to Undergo Mandatory DVLA Training Before Commercial Licensing

Commercial motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada riders are set to undergo mandatory training and testing as Ghana moves to formalise and regulate commercial motorcycle operations.

The latest development forms part of a broader government effort to establish a structured licensing regime for Okada operators, with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) expected to play a central role in training, testing, registration and certification.

img 3440
Okada Riders Face Mandatory DVLA Training

Mandatory DVLA Training for Okada Riders

Under the emerging regulatory framework, commercial motorcycle riders will be required to complete formal training before they can obtain the specialised licence needed to carry passengers for payment.

The training requirement is intended to ensure that riders have the necessary knowledge and practical skills to operate safely on Ghana’s roads.

The image accompanying the report states that Okada riders will undergo mandatory DVLA training before commercial licensing, reflecting the government’s wider push to professionalise the sector.

Riders Will Face Tests Before Licensing

The proposed framework goes beyond training. Previous announcements from the DVLA indicate that prospective commercial riders will be required to pass oral, theoretical and eye tests before being certified as licensed commercial road users.

The requirements are designed to ensure that commercial riders understand road regulations, demonstrate sufficient riding competence and meet the necessary safety standards before carrying passengers.

Government Moves to Formalise Okada Operations

Ghana has been working towards the formalisation of commercial motorcycle transport as part of efforts to improve road safety, strengthen accountability and provide a clearer regulatory framework for thousands of people who depend on Okada riding for their livelihoods.

In March 2026, the DVLA confirmed that its Chief Executive, Julius Neequeye Kotey, joined a Ministry of Transport delegation on a strategic study tour to Rwanda to examine that country’s approach to regulating motorcycle taxis. The authority said lessons from Rwanda would help shape Ghana’s approach to the operationalisation of Okada.

Why Training Is Considered Important

Commercial motorcycles have become an important part of Ghana’s transport ecosystem, particularly in areas where conventional public transport struggles to provide quick and accessible mobility.

However, concerns over road crashes, traffic violations, rider competence and passenger safety have intensified the call for stronger regulation.

The Ministry of Transport previously stated that the proposed regulatory framework would include mandatory training, helmet requirements, periodic inspections and other safety measures.

Licensing and Identification Measures

The emerging system is also expected to introduce stronger identification and accountability measures for commercial motorcycles. Previous DVLA announcements indicated that each motorcycle would receive a unique registration plate to make identification easier for law enforcement. Riders and passengers would also be required to use certified helmets carrying unique identification numbers.

Commercial riders are also expected to obtain a specialised commercial licence rather than relying solely on an ordinary motorcycle riding licence.

Minimum Age Requirement Has Changed

The proposed regulatory framework has undergone changes since it was first announced. An earlier draft proposed a minimum age of 25 for commercial motorcycle riders, but the government later announced a policy shift reducing the proposed minimum age to 21. The revised requirement was reported alongside other proposed conditions including a commercial DVLA licence, proficiency testing, mandatory training and certified helmets.

The final requirements will depend on the applicable legislation and regulatory implementation.

Rwanda Experience Could Influence Ghana’s System

Ghana’s decision to study Rwanda’s motorcycle-taxi system highlights the government’s intention to learn from a country where commercial motorcycle operations have been integrated into a more structured transport system.

The DVLA said its March 2026 study tour was aimed at examining Rwanda’s legal regime, safety practices, efficiency measures and economic sustainability, with the ultimate objective of incorporating suitable lessons into Ghana’s own framework.

What Okada Riders Should Expect

For riders, the transition towards formalisation is expected to mean greater scrutiny but also potentially greater recognition and protection within the transport sector.

Training, testing, specialised licensing, motorcycle identification, helmet requirements and compliance with road traffic regulations are expected to form key components of the new system.

The broader objective is to create a commercial motorcycle sector that provides mobility and employment while reducing risks to riders, passengers and other road users.

GhanaMedia.net Will Continue Following the Development

The formalisation of Okada operations represents a significant change for Ghana’s transport sector. As the government and the DVLA continue the process, riders, transport unions and the public will be watching closely for details on implementation, training schedules, licensing procedures and the final regulatory requirements.

GhanaMedia.net will continue to monitor developments and publish verified updates as the new commercial motorcycle licensing regime takes shape.

Young UCC Student Dies After Alleged Food Poisoning From Best Friend

Screenshot

A young student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has died following an alleged food-poisoning incident involving food reportedly received from a close friend.

GhanaMedia.net has verified the claim and understands that the incident has triggered grief and concern among those connected to the deceased and the wider university community.

img 3434

Student Dies After Alleged Food Poisoning

According to information available to GhanaMedia.net, the young student reportedly became seriously ill after consuming food allegedly provided by a close friend.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised questions about what the student consumed, how the illness developed and the events that preceded her death.

The exact medical circumstances leading to the death, including the specific substance or cause responsible, should be determined through the appropriate medical and investigative processes.

Close Friend Allegedly Involved

The allegation that the food came from a close friend has added another troubling dimension to the incident. However, an allegation of food poisoning does not by itself establish criminal responsibility, and any further claims concerning how the food became contaminated must be properly investigated.

GhanaMedia.net is therefore avoiding speculation and will distinguish between confirmed information and allegations as investigations and further information emerge.

Concerns Surround Student’s Death

The death has sparked concern because of the circumstances reportedly surrounding the student’s final hours. Questions are expected to focus on the food consumed, the symptoms experienced, the treatment received and whether any person may have deliberately or accidentally contributed to the situation.

Where suspected poisoning is involved, medical examination and forensic investigation can be important in establishing what happened and determining whether foul play was involved.

GhanaMedia.net Verifies Report

GhanaMedia.net has verified the report of the student’s death. The information currently available, however, should not be interpreted as a final determination of the cause of death or proof of wrongdoing by the friend allegedly connected to the food.

Any criminal or legal responsibility must be established by the relevant authorities based on evidence.

University Community Mourns

The death has left those connected to the young student mourning a life that was cut short. The incident also serves as a painful reminder of the need for caution when dealing with suspected food contamination and unexplained illness.

GhanaMedia.net will continue to follow developments surrounding the case and provide verified updates as more information becomes available.

Investigation Remains Important

Until the circumstances are fully established, the public is encouraged to avoid spreading unverified accusations or naming individuals as responsible for the death without evidence.

The focus should remain on establishing the truth, protecting the dignity of the deceased and ensuring that any person found responsible through due process is held accountable.

Oteele’s Alleged Private Video Sparks Online Reactions After Child Unexpectedly Walks In

An alleged private video involving Kumawood actor Oteele and a woman has surfaced online, triggering widespread reactions after a child unexpectedly walked into the room during the encounter.

The footage, which is circulating across social media platforms, has attracted significant attention among Ghanaian social media users. A screenshot supplied to GhanaMedia.net by the source identifies the man in the footage as Oteele and describes the woman as his alleged “side-chick.”

Child’s Unexpected Appearance Sparks Attention

According to the material circulating online, the video allegedly shows Oteele and the woman in a private setting before a child enters the room and calls out to the woman.

The child’s unexpected appearance reportedly brings the encounter to an immediate end. The incident has since become the central point of discussion surrounding the video, with social media users reacting to what they describe as an unexpected interruption.

GhanaMedia.net is deliberately not reproducing or describing any explicit material involving the child. The child’s privacy and protection are paramount.

Video Cirates Online

The screenshots provided to GhanaMedia.net state that the footage has gone viral online, with reactions ranging from amusement over the unexpected interruption to criticism of the circulation of what appears to be a private recording.

Some social media users have reportedly questioned why private moments are recorded and shared publicly, while others have focused on the unusual circumstances surrounding the child’s appearance in the footage.

Oteele Reportedly Responds

The material supplied to GhanaMedia.net further states that Oteele has publicly commented on the video and rendered an apology to his fans and the family involved. However, GhanaMedia.net has not independently verified the original recording, the circumstances under which it was made or the identities of every person appearing in it.

Oteele, whose real name is Stephen Yaw Mawunyo, is a known Ghanaian Kumawood actor. He has previously received significant media attention, including reports concerning his health and recovery.

Privacy Concerns Grow

The latest controversy has also renewed conversations about privacy and the responsible sharing of personal videos online. Once private footage is uploaded or redistributed across social media, it can quickly spread beyond the control of the people involved.

For that reason, members of the public are being urged to exercise caution before downloading, reposting or further distributing alleged private material, particularly where children may appear.

GhanaMedia.net’s Disclaimer

This report is based primarily on information contained in social-media material supplied to GhanaMedia.net and circulating online. GhanaMedia.net has not independently authenticated the original video or independently confirmed all claims made about the people or circumstances depicted.

The publication of this report should not be interpreted as confirmation that every allegation contained in the circulating material is factual. Readers are encouraged to treat unverified social-media claims with caution and respect the privacy of all individuals involved, especially minors.

‘We Planned as a Minority to Frustrate Akufo-Addo’s Government’ – Haruna Iddrisu

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), while in opposition, deliberately planned to frustrate the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during its time as the parliamentary Minority.

img 3380
‘We Planned as a Minority to Frustrate Akufo-Addo’s Government’ – Haruna Iddrisu 12

Mr Iddrisu made the revelation in a statement featured by Ghana Today on August 14, 2026, in which he reflected on the NDC Minority’s approach to constitutional and governance matters during the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to the statement attributed to the Education Minister, the NDC Minority was particularly opposed to aspects of the Akufo-Addo administration’s agenda involving the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“We planned as a minority to frustrate President Akufo-Addo’s government, especially when he wanted us to elect MMDCEs,” Mr Iddrisu was quoted as saying.

He further said he personally wanted to be remembered for challenging what he regarded as constitutional issues under the former administration, while acknowledging Akufo-Addo’s legal background.

“Personally I wanted to be popular because history will record me the person to have challenged a brilliant constitutional lawyer like President Akufo-Addo on constitutional matters,” the statement attributed to him said.

Mr Iddrisu, however, added that he would not wish for similar tactics to be deployed against the current NDC administration.

“But I wouldn’t wish same is done to the NDC government,” he was quoted as saying.

Political strategy and constitutional disagreements

The comments highlight the intense political and constitutional disagreements that characterised relations between the NDC Minority and the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

The proposed election of MMDCEs was one of the major constitutional and decentralisation issues debated during the Akufo-Addo administration. The government pursued changes that would have enabled Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to be elected rather than appointed under the existing constitutional framework. The proposed reforms eventually faced strong opposition and were withdrawn from Parliament in 2019.

At the time, Mr Iddrisu, then Minority Leader, was among those who challenged aspects of the government’s approach, including the constitutional process surrounding the proposed changes.

His latest comments therefore offer a retrospective account of the political calculations behind the NDC Minority’s opposition to the Akufo-Addo administration.

Haruna Iddrisu now serves as Education Minister

Mr Iddrisu is now Ghana’s Minister of Education under President John Dramani Mahama. Ghana News Agency reports that he has been leading government initiatives in education, including reforms aimed at strengthening technical and vocational education and improving skills development.

His political career has included several senior parliamentary and ministerial positions. He previously served as both Majority and Minority Leader in Parliament and also held ministerial responsibilities under earlier NDC administrations.

The latest remarks are likely to attract renewed attention to the political strategies employed by both the NDC and NPP when operating on opposite sides of Ghana’s Parliament.

Lexikon Ignites with “I Burn,” a Spiritual Reggae Anthem of Inner Fire

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste Lexikon has unveiled his new single, “I Burn,” a spiritually charged reggae anthem built around themes of inner renewal, empowerment, resilience and divine guidance.

The song, available on Spotify, presents fire as a spiritual metaphor rather than a physical force, drawing on Christian imagery to portray an inner flame associated with purification, conviction, illumination and strength.

img 3353
Lexikon Ignites with “I Burn,” a Spiritual Reggae Anthem of Inner Fire 16

From its opening energy, “I Burn” establishes a message of spiritual confidence, with Lexikon presenting the fire within as a source of courage and direction. The song’s central idea connects personal transformation with faith and the belief that divine presence can empower an individual through adversity.

A key cultural element of the track is the use of “Ogya,” the Akan word for fire. Lexikon uses the term to connect the song’s reggae and dancehall sound with Ghanaian identity while reinforcing the spiritual symbolism at the heart of the record.

Across the song, Lexikon explores themes of survival, perseverance and spiritual authority. The narrative moves from overcoming storms and adversity to standing firmly in one’s calling and refusing to be defeated by opposition.

The song also draws heavily on biblical imagery, particularly the symbolism of fire as guidance and divine protection. This gives “I Burn” a devotional quality while retaining the rhythmic character associated with reggae-dancehall.

Lexikon’s approach blends Jamaican patois, Ghanaian cultural references and Christian themes to create a sound that reaches across cultural boundaries. The result is a musical expression that connects African heritage, Caribbean reggae influences and a contemporary Christian message.

Rather than presenting fire solely as destruction, Lexikon frames it as a force capable of refining, strengthening and renewing the individual. The message is one of remaining resilient through difficult seasons while drawing strength from faith and purpose.

The release also introduces the meaning behind Lexikon’s Baan-FIRE concept — Fire for Inner Renewal and Empowerment — positioning the song as part of a broader message of personal transformation and spiritual empowerment.

With “I Burn,” Lexikon moves beyond a conventional entertainment release to deliver a faith-driven statement about conviction, resilience and the pursuit of divine purpose.

The single is now available for streaming on Spotify as Lexikon invites listeners to connect with its message of inner fire, renewal and empowerment.

NANA Reaffirms Commitment to Shia Development at 2026 Biennial Congress

Screenshot

The Norvisi Association North America, Inc. (NANA), an organisation of citizens of Shia in Ghana’s Volta Region living in North America, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of the community following its 2026 Biennial Congress in Cheshire, Connecticut.

img 3347
NANA Reaffirms Commitment to Shia Development at 2026 Biennial Congress 20

Held from August 7 to 8 under the theme “Development in Unity” and the motto “Together We Grow • Together We Succeed,” the congress brought members together to review community priorities and strengthen their collective commitment to the development of Shia.

A major decision from the congress was NANA’s move to evaluate and adopt the library at Shia’s newly built Senior High School. The facility is currently empty and requires furnishings, books and other learning resources to become a functional learning centre for students.

NANA has established a project team to work with the school, assess the library’s requirements and develop a plan to transform the facility into a modern learning environment that will support students and enhance educational opportunities in the community.

The association also reaffirmed its support for the community centre currently under construction in Shia. The project brings together citizens of Shia in Ghana, North America and Europe in a shared effort to provide an important facility for the community.

NANA further highlighted its contribution to the renovation of Shia’s maternity block, reflecting its commitment to strengthening essential healthcare services for mothers, newborns and families.

Members also raised funds towards the rehabilitation and maintenance of Shia’s public cemetery. The initiative includes clearing overgrown vegetation and improving accessibility to the facility.

NANA Chairman Blaise Anthony Hometorwu emphasised the importance of unity, collective responsibility and giving back to the community that shaped the lives of members now living abroad.

The congress also received support from the Ewe Association of Southern Connecticut, led by its Vice President, Chris Diaba. The delegation attended the congress and made a donation towards NANA’s development initiatives.

Guest of Honour Togbe Tornu Yao V, Dufia of Aveme Dra, praised NANA members for maintaining strong ties with Shia despite living abroad.

He encouraged members to build a lasting legacy for future generations and challenged citizens to work collectively to move Shia from its affectionate nickname, “Small London,” to what he described as “BIG London.”

The congress concluded with a banquet featuring cultural entertainment, awards, recognition and fundraising activities.

NANA announced that its next Biennial Congress will be held during the third weekend of July 2028 in Crown Point, Indiana. Members are expected to use the gathering to review progress, strengthen fellowship and continue mobilising their collective skills and resources for the development of Shia.

Labone Robbery: Suspect (Nigerian) Arrested as Two Others Are Shot Dead in Police Operation

Police in Accra have reportedly foiled an alleged armed robbery operation in Labone, leaving two suspected robbers dead and another suspect in custody.

img 3322
Labone Robbery Ends With Two Suspects Dead

The incident, which occurred in the Labone area of Accra, has attracted public attention after images circulating online showed a man identified as Okechuku Maazi alongside photographs linked to the alleged incident.

According to an eyewitness account circulating online, the suspects were allegedly monitoring customers around a bank before attempting to follow a potential target. Police reportedly moved in after receiving information about the suspects’ activities, leading to a confrontation.

The account said the suspects attempted to flee when officers intervened and that gunfire was exchanged during the pursuit. Two of the suspected robbers were reportedly shot dead, while a third suspect was arrested.

Images circulating in connection with the incident also show a firearm and a vehicle, although the circumstances surrounding those items will have to be established by investigators.

The arrest of the surviving suspect is expected to provide investigators with important information about the alleged operation, including the identities of the other suspects, how the group may have operated and whether other people were involved.

Questions over nationality

There has also been discussion on social media about the nationality of the suspects, with some claims linking the incident to Nigerian nationals. GhanaMedia.net cannot independently verify those claims at this stage, and nationality should not be attributed to any suspect without confirmation from the Ghana Police Service or another competent authority.

The broader issue of foreign nationals being accused of criminal activity in Ghana should likewise be treated carefully. Individual criminal allegations should be investigated on their own facts rather than used to label an entire nationality or community.

What is clear from the available account is that the Labone incident has raised renewed concerns about armed robbery and the safety of residents, workers and people conducting financial transactions in parts of Accra.

The Ghana Police Service will be expected to establish exactly what happened, identify the deceased suspects, confirm the identity of the person arrested and determine whether the firearm and other items shown in circulating images are connected to the alleged robbery.

As investigations continue, members of the public are urged to rely on verified information from law-enforcement authorities rather than unconfirmed claims circulating on social media.

GhanaMedia.net will continue to follow developments as authorities provide further information on the case.

Oteele Breaks Silence After Alleged Private Video Leak, Says He Failed His Family

Ghanaian actor Oteele has broken his silence following the circulation of an alleged private video online, acknowledging that the controversy has affected his family and saying he wants to make amends.

Oteele addressed the controversy during a TikTok Live session on Thursday, August 13, 2026, after the alleged video triggered widespread discussion across Ghanaian social media.

img 3316
Oteele Breaks Silence After Alleged Video Leak

According to reports, the actor admitted that he had failed his family and expressed his intention to seek forgiveness from his wife, Nana Afriyie Gifty. He reportedly said he plans to visit her together with respected elders to formally ask for forgiveness.

Oteele also spoke about the personal impact of the controversy, reportedly revealing that he had gone nearly a full day without eating as the story continued to spread online.

His comments came after his wife, Gifty Nana Afriyie, publicly addressed the controversy in an emotional video. She denied being the woman seen in the circulating footage and apologised on behalf of her family.

The latest development has also revived previous comments made by Gifty in April 2025, when she accused Oteele of repeatedly cheating during their relationship. In that interview, she claimed that she had caught him cheating on numerous occasions and said that after 13 years of knowing him, she had become accustomed to the alleged behaviour. She nevertheless said there were boundaries he was not permitted to cross, including bringing alleged partners into their matrimonial home.

The resurfacing of those remarks has added context to the current controversy, although the allegations made in the 2025 interview remain allegations attributed to Gifty and should not be treated as independently established facts.

Meanwhile, reports surrounding the alleged private footage remain subject to verification. GhanaMedia.net will not reproduce or distribute explicit material and urges the public to avoid sharing intimate footage of private individuals without consent.

Oteele’s latest comments represent his first major public response to the controversy and shift attention from the viral footage itself to the consequences the incident has had on his family.

His reported intention to approach his wife with elders and seek forgiveness now places the future of their relationship at the centre of public interest.
