The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned the United States following reports of an unauthorized military incursion into Venezuela and the alleged abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

In an official statement signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana described the reported action as a “unilateral and unauthorised invasion” that constitutes a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the sovereignty of independent states.

The statement expressed deep concern over the development, stressing that such actions threaten global peace, destabilize international relations, and undermine the principles of mutual respect and non-interference that govern the international community.
Ghana emphasized its long-standing commitment to diplomacy, peaceful conflict resolution, and respect for national sovereignty. The government urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and called on international bodies, including the United Nations, to urgently investigate the matter and take appropriate steps to prevent further escalation.
According to the statement, Ghana believes that unilateral military actions set a dangerous precedent and could have far-reaching consequences for global stability, particularly in already tense geopolitical regions.
The government reaffirmed its support for dialogue and multilateral engagement as the only sustainable path to resolving international disputes and maintaining global order.
