Golfers from across Ghana gathered to compete in the multi-day invitational, representing corporate bodies, golf clubs, and individual qualifiers. The presence of the Asantehene underscores the tournament’s prestige and the longstanding partnership between the Asante monarchy and AngloGold in promoting sport and community development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Otumfuo expressed his commitment to the growth of golf in Ghana, stating that such tournaments help foster unity, sportsmanship and excellence across communities. He urged players to compete in the spirit of respect, discipline, and integrity.

Organisers noted that the tournament will include various categories (men, women, amateurs, corporate) and is expected to draw both seasoned and emerging talents. Proceeds and exposure from the event aim to support youth development programs, golf infrastructure improvements, and community initiatives in the Ashanti and surrounding regions.

Last year’s women’s champion, Pearl Andrews of Sinapi Aba Savings & Loans, is expected to defend her title in the women’s division.  Meanwhile, the 6th edition of the tournament saw strong participation and significant media coverage, solidifying its place on Ghana’s golfing calendar.

As play proceeds over the coming days, spectators and golf enthusiasts will be watching closely, especially as standout performances may pave the way for national recognition and further opportunities in the sport.

Twum emphasized that Asare’s performances — consistency, dedication, and strong displays at club level — have validated his elevation to Ghana’s number-one spot between the posts. He noted that while many aspire, few deliver the level of excellence required to represent the nation.

Asare, currently serving as goalkeeper for Accra Hearts of Oak, has responded to the call with composure. His inclusion in the national squad underscores the GFA’s commitment to rewarding merit and performance.

The Black Stars’ campaign for the 2026 World Cup begins with crucial qualifiers, and Asare’s role will be under close scrutiny. Twum’s remarks aim to reassure fans and critics that the appointment is grounded in merit, not politics.

Supporters and pundits will be watching closely as Asare steps into the spotlight, carrying both the aspirations of Ghanaian football and the weight of expectations.

Hudson-Odoi, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League, has long been at the center of discussions over which national team he would represent. Though he has featured for England at youth and senior levels, he remains eligible to play for Ghana through his parents.

The winger famously turned down a previous call-up from the Ghana Football Association, opting to keep his options open. However, recent reports indicate that he has now made up his mind about his international future — a decision that could significantly bolster Ghana’s attacking strength if he chooses to wear the Black Stars jersey.

His decision comes at a crucial time as the Black Stars prepare to face Comoros on Sunday in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers. With Ghana’s technical team seeking to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup campaign, Hudson-Odoi’s commitment would be a massive boost.

Fans across Ghana and the diaspora are eagerly awaiting an official confirmation from the player or the Ghana Football Association. If confirmed, Hudson-Odoi’s inclusion would add world-class flair and experience to a rejuvenated Black Stars lineup that already features talents like Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, and Jordan Ayew.

Whether he finally dons the red, yellow, and green remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: Hudson-Odoi’s decision could mark the beginning of a new era for Ghanaian football.

According to sources familiar with the ongoing legal proceedings, the severity of the potential sentence reflects the multiple counts of offenses Wontumi is facing, which include illegal mining facilitation and environmental destruction.

The High Court is expected to thoroughly examine evidence and witness testimonies in the coming sessions. Legal experts note that the case could set a precedent for strict enforcement against illegal mining operations in Ghana.

Wontumi has previously denied wrongdoing, asserting that all his actions were lawful and transparent. However, authorities insist that anyone involved in or facilitating galamsey operations will face the full weight of the law.

The verdict is highly anticipated, as it could have significant implications for political accountability and environmental protection in the country.

The image has sparked intense debate, with users speculating about the child’s parentage and questioning the authenticity of the story. Despite the buzz, there has been no confirmation of the incident’s legitimacy, leaving the online community divided.

On May 9, 2025, Kinaata was presented with the Youth in Entertainment Award at the Otumfuo Millennium Excellence Awards held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The award recognizes individuals whose work has significantly contributed to national development and societal progress.

In an interview on Angel FM, Kinaata described the recognition as the pinnacle of his career. He explained that while the Grammys focus primarily on rewarding musical achievements, the Asantehene’s award acknowledges a broader societal impact.

“Grammy awards are primarily given to musicians, but the award Otumfuo bestowed is unique and stands out. You could sing your entire life and still not receive it, which I consider more prestigious than the Grammys,” Kinaata said.

He also noted that receiving the award has opened new opportunities, expanded his fanbase, and granted him access to platforms and shows previously unavailable to him.

Otumfuo himself has commended Kinaata’s artistry in the past, particularly praising his song “Susuka” as “full of wisdom” during the Ghana Bar Association’s General Conference in 2024.

Other notable awardees at the ceremony included Dr. Osei Kwame Despite of Despite Group, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong of Special Ice Water, and Dr. Nick Danso of Ghana Link Network Services.

Kinaata’s remarks underscore the value of local recognition and the profound respect Ghanaian artists hold for traditional institutions, highlighting the deep cultural significance of awards beyond global fame.
