BRYAN, TEXAS — The family of 23-year-old Alexis Zina Walls is mourning her death after her common-law husband, Brandon Michael Dickerson, admitted to killing her in a shooting that happened in the presence of their young child.
Dickerson, 30, pleaded guilty to murder on February 3, 2026, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison by Judge Kyle Hawthorne in Brazos County, Texas.
According to police and court documents cited by local media, Dickerson called 911 at about 12:40 a.m. on February 7, 2025, saying he had shot and killed Walls at their home on East 18th Street in Bryan.
Officers who responded found Walls dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Dickerson later told investigators that he had shot her 15 times, claiming he suspected she was cheating on him.
The couple’s 18-month-old son was inside the home when the shooting occurred, although the child was not physically injured. The incident reportedly took place in the bedroom of their young son.

Walls, who was born on October 9, 2001, was described by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office as a loving mother, friendly, kind and thoughtful.
Her family reportedly called her a “hurricane” because of her lively personality. Prosecutors said she was bubbly and talkative, while her friends remembered her as someone who welcomed people with open arms.
Her obituary confirms that Alexis Zina Walls was 23 when she died on February 7, 2025, and that her funeral and celebration of life were held in Bryan, Texas.
