GoldBod Debunks Viral GH¢200 Million Claim Against Dominic Bonsu Ventures, Denies CEO Was Sammy Gyamfi’s Bodyguard

The widely circulated post claimed that the proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, Dominic Bonsu, was a former bodyguard to GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi and had fled with GH¢200 million belonging to the institution.

In an official statement, GoldBod rejected both allegations, stressing that Dominic Bonsu has never served as the personal bodyguard or security officer of Sammy Gyamfi. The Board further stated that it has neither lost nor advanced GH¢200 million—or any amount of money—to Dominic Bonsu or Dominic Bonsu Ventures.

According to GoldBod, the company is currently facing regulatory enforcement after its licence was suspended over suspected breaches of its licence conditions and the GoldBod Trading Directives under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).

The Board disclosed that investigations led to the arrest of Dominic Bonsu, who has been remanded into lawful custody by the High Court in Accra while legal proceedings continue.

GoldBod expressed concern that the false publication sought to distort an ongoing enforcement process, undermine confidence in the institution and spread misinformation about its operations.

The Board urged the public, media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it. It encouraged citizens to rely only on official GoldBod communications for accurate updates on the matter.

GoldBod reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Ghana’s gold trading laws fairly, professionally and without fear or favour while maintaining transparency throughout ongoing regulatory actions.
