Former Ghana Finance Minister Entered the United States on Visitor’s Visa in May 2025
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has stated that former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta remained in the United States beyond the authorized period of his visitor’s visa.
An ICE spokesperson disclosed that Ofori-Atta entered the U.S. on May 28, 2025, under a visitor’s visa that was valid until November 27, 2025. Records reviewed by the agency indicate that he overstayed his permitted admission.
“Ken Ofori-Atta entered the United States on May 28, 2025, on a visitor’s visa with an expiration date of Nov. 27, 2025. Ofori-Atta overstayed his permitted admission,” the spokesperson confirmed.
The revelation has drawn attention due to Ofori-Atta’s prominence in Ghana’s political and economic landscape. Visa overstays are considered violations of U.S. immigration law and can affect future travel eligibility, residency applications, and legal standing.
ICE has not announced any further enforcement action at this time, and no official comment has been released by Ofori-Atta regarding the claim.
